This is an almost white frog, Microhyla neglecta, which, however, exhibits a range of different hue. It simply surprised us — small and seemingly flat. It seemed that this amphibian was imitating a piece of whitish lichen or fungus on old fallen leaves.
We encountered this frog only once, along with its similar relative, which also inhabits the same area. There’s not much to say about this narrow-mouthed frog... As it turned out, it was once discovered by herpetologists but was “neglected for a while” because it closely resembled another species within the Microhyla genus. It was officially described as a separate species only in 2020. A specialist in local amphibians helped identify the frog in my photos. It turned out to be the “neglected” narrow-mouthed frog, Microhyla neglecta, which was rediscovered and described by the team of this scientist (Poyarkov, Nguyen, Trofimets, & Gorin).
