The sunny flowers of this saprophytic orchid, seemingly covered with warm cinnamon-colored freckles, are not always visible to the eyes of tourists. They usually bloom high up on the branches and trunks of old trees. But sometimes they fall, along with a decaying branch of the tree. Alternatively, a colony of orchids may find itself on the second level of the forest when its mother tree collapses and hangs between other trees, supported by its living companions. In this case, you cannot pass by without taking a photo — the sunlight makes these flowers even brighter, as if they glow with gentle warmth.
These small orchids, Bulbophyllum thydoii, were recently described as a new species and are found in a small range, in this case, in the mossy forest of Hon Giao.
